Narcissism is a character type whose task is to maintain one’s own value through exclusivity, which is usually acquired at the expense of others, says couples psychologist Agnieszka Kašinska.

Narcissists follow different rules than the rest of us. They apply double standards, which means they expect special treatment from them, manifested in privileges and favors, says Julie L. Hall in her book “The Narcissist in Your Life.” Let’s discuss the behavior of narcissists, or rather, what they don’t do. Meanwhile, emotionally stable people do it all the time.

The development of emotional intelligence is an extremely important part of a child’s education. It helps toddlers to better understand and properly manage their emotions, to approach and communicate with other people more courageously, to understand themselves better, to adapt more easily in a new environment, for example, in kindergarten or school. For a child whose emotional intelligence is developed it is easier to understand his own and those who around him, to be more confident in himself, to solve problems that have arisen and, most importantly, not to be afraid to talk about emotions.

When working with clients during psychotherapy, I sometimes encounter a situation where the client remembers some childhood event, usually a painful traumatic event, but only partially, and the main events are like a blank spot – says family psychologist Agnieška Kašinska. Our psyche has the ability to push out painful experiences that cannot be realized and processed. When a person knows that something happened or could have happened, but is unable to remember, it is very frightening and disturbing.
